Macrococcus caseolyticus

This Gram positive coccus is found in pairs and clusters. It is a facultative anaerobe capable of using sugars oxidatively and fermentatively. Catalase positive. This organism is associated with dairy products and has not been seen in human or animal infections. It has been isolated from a variety of mammalian sources. Strains of this organism have been classified as Micrococcus and Staphylococcus in the past.
