Rahnella aquatilis

This microbe is a rare, small Gram-negative rod typically associated with fresh water. It is nonmotile at 35-37 C but motile at 25 C. Most strains produce gas from glucose. Its clinical significance is minimal, though it has been associated with surgical wound infection, sepsis, and urinary tract infections.  Patients are frequently immunocompromised.
