Serratia fonticola

Predictions were that this bacterium would be removed from the genus Serratia. However, the most recent list of approved names preserves its status. This small, straight Gram negative rod is motile by peritrichous flagella. Some strains produce gas from glucose. Growth is at 35-37 C. This is a fresh water bacterium that is only associated with infections on very rare occasions.
