Streptococcus criceti

This Gram positive coccus is most frequently found in pairs and short chains of spherical or ovoid cells. Cells are catalase negative and exhibit facultatively anaerobic metabolism. Isolated from the mouths of hamsters, wild rats, and occasionally humans. There is little evidence for its involvement in the causation of disease.
