This is a small Gram negative rod-shaped organism isolated from human clinical specimens, but not known to have any clinical significance. Gas is produced from glucose and strains are motile. This biogroup differs from the main strains in being able to ferment the sugars sucrose, raffinose, and melibiose. It is also citrate negative. Like the main Citrobacter amalonaticus strains, it is a fecal isolate.
