Edwardsiella tarda biogroup 1

This is a straight rod that is motile by peritrichous flagella. It is a Gram negative organism. Growth is best at 35-37 C. Gas may be produced but hydrogen sulfide is uncommon. It is much rarer than its wild-type cousin and differs in ability to ferment some sugars. It is infrequently found in the feces of healthy people, and is mostly associated with snakes.
