Streptococcus acidominimus

This Gram positive coccus is most frequently found in pairs and short chains of spherical cells. Cells are catalase negative and exhibit weak facultatively anaerobic metabolism. Most commonly isolated from the vaginal mucosa of cows, and in raw milk. It is a cause of livestock infections but has been recovered infrequently from human wound, urinary, lung, inner ear, and cerebrospinal infections.
